Question:
Using measuring utensils....

When it came to measuring utensils, I used a couple of things. I bought a shotglass - it reminded me of what an ounce really looks like, and I put it on the table when I was eating. I used an iced teaspoon (has a smaller bowl than a regular teaspoon) and a shrimp fork (has tiny tines). Made picking up those tiny bites seem more normal. I bought a babyfood grinder so I could have adult food even though my stomach was baby-sized. I found that that worked for me. Using measuring utensils at first, until I got used to 'eyeballing' a GBP portion, was VERY helpful.    — Marjorie B. (posted on December 24, 2002)

hi there :) i agree, these are all good ideas! i used the little cups that you would find on the top of an elixer bottle as they are 1 oz too and i always use saucers instead of plates. :)

The best thing that helped me is using a smaller salad plate instead of a standard plate. I find that using that every meal has really helped adjust my mind as to what a full plate is. I also use a small cupcake size bowl for things like cereal. (about 4 or 5 ounce size) I've found if I use a standard size plate, I tend to keep it porportionately full as the small plate, which is way too much food.
