Question:
Support Group in SW Florida- Naples Area

This question is for those SW Florida/Naples. I'm looking for a support group near here. My surgeon & his support group is in Clearwater, and it's too far for me to be able to get to regularly. So, I'm hoping there is one in Naples or Bonita Springs or Ft. Myers so I can go. Anyone?    — KelBurt (posted on December 4, 2002)

Hi Kelli- A group of my friends and I have started an informal peer support grop for WLS in Naples. At our first meeting last month we had 8 attend- 2 post ops that are doing great- one scheduled for surgery (me! 12/19) and the rest in various stages of pre-op testing and research. Most of us are patients of Dr. Rosenthal at the Cleveland Clinic in Weston, but that is not a requirement- also, most of us work at the Sheriff's Office but thats not a requirement either! Our next meeting is Thurs 12/12 at 6:30- 8:00 pm at my house (we are informal!). Hi, I am also in the Naples area and I had my surgery at Cleveland clinic in Naples by Dr Liberman. We have a support group there at the hospital every 3rd Tuesday. It is run by his nurse and the hospital nutritionist. There is a lot of infomation at these and they are open for pre op or post op. For more information call his ofc at the hospital. Good luck, and if you can go to both groups. I wish I had known about the one for the CCSO, but I guess I must be out of the loop because I work for Naples PD :-)
