Question:
Okay... I need some help please!!!
I just purchased some samples from vitalady and I am soooo clueless on how to make a drink. Do I mix with water? milk? add anything? blend it? add ice? shake it? refrigerate it? Can you tell I am new to this??? LOL... Anyone out there with some great suggestions to give a pre-op??? THANKS — chatterbox213704 (posted on October 26, 2002)

You can mix it with milk or water. Milk will make it a thicker shake. You
can also add things like frozen strawberries, bananas. If you have vanilla
you can add s little SF hot chocolate mix. I have had trouble tolerating
protein until I started mixing it with juice (called cravin' less sugar)
and ice. Hope this helps. Also, the colder it is, the better it is.

I am so glad you asked this question--my samples arrived too--do I need to
get a blender--or does this mix like good ol' Nestles Quik? I'll be looking
forward to all the replies.

I use about 6 oz. water and 4 or 5 ice cubes. In the morning, I add 1/2
banana to my strawberry powder. You might find the Yahoo OSSG boards
worthwhile. They've been INVALUABLE for me, especially the "protein
pervs" (the WHAT?!?!?) site. ALl they talk about is protein! At work,
even with my hand mixer, I have no ice so just use cold water. Whatever
works, works (just don't heat the powder or the protein will break down).
GOod luck!

Most mix them with water rather than milk, to avoid the extra sugar and
calories of the milk. It depends on the protein you buy, as to whether it
needs a blender or not. I've found that the Pure Protein Whey Stack mixes
very well just by stirring or shaking, whereas Pro Blend and ProScore don't
mix as well and do better in a blender. I've added banana to the blender
but I usually drink mine straight. Another variation I've tried is mixing
some General Foods International Coffee (French Vanilla, sugar free) with
hot water to dissolve it, then putting it in a blender with cold water, ice
and some Designer Protein Natural Flavor. Tastes like a fancy iced coffee
drink, LOL. You want to avoid using boiling water with protein as the
protein breaks down though. Just use your imagination when you get bored!

OK, I'm the boring one here. LOL I buy nothing but Designer Whey protein
powder, chocolate flavor. Every morning I just take a scoop, put it in a
cup with a half packet of equal and add milk. I stir it for a while and
then drink it. Tastes just like chocolate milk to me. It's really yummy. I,
personally, don't care for mixing it in a blender because I don't like the
"milkshake" texture/thickness. BUT, you will just have to
experiment. Like the others have said, you can add just about anything to
spruce them up. You just have to find which way you like it. Think of all
the places that sell milkshakes and smoothies and what they put in them.
That will help give you ideas. You can buy SF syrups at the store also for
flavoring.
