Question:
How long should it take to get the results of a CT scan done on my kidney
I had a CT done on my kidneys August 6th 2002. I just got my approval for surgery last Friday August 30th from my insurance company. The doctor I am going thru cannot give me a definite surgery date because the results have not gotten to his office yet. I have pretty much gotten the run around trying to get these results from the hospital to the doctor. I have been told we have already faxed the results, we will refax the results, no we cannot fax the results to you. The people who work with the doctor seem to be giving me the same run around. No we have not received the results, let me call them and I will call you right back (never getting the call back), we should have gotten the results by now. I am pretty much at my witts end. Help, you guys, does anyone have any sugestions on how I can get these results to in the right hands once and for all so that I can proceed with either taking care of my kidney if need be or getting a date for surgery? — Mary P. I believe that the any radiology reports belong to you. So, you can
request a copy of the films, go pick them up (may take a day or 2), and
deliver them to your doctor yourself. I did this with my upper GI
films....no probs.

We usually get our CT scan results within 48 hours. Sign a release and hand
it to them and tell them that you will wait. They can not refuse to give
you a copy of the results. Again, I tell everyone to keep a copy of all
your records. Be your own historian.

Mary,
The hospital had those results weeks ago. If it were me I'd go to the
hospital and get those results (they have to give them to you), take them
to the doctor myself and stand there and stare at them till they gave me a
date. lol
No, but I'm serious, they can not fax them without a release signed but
they have to give them to you if you go down there.
