Sheri, Was the hernia in the Jejunum or Duodenum or was it hiatal? I know
the EGD sees it all. I know for a fact that a hiatal hernia will not
prevent a lap procedure because hiatal hernias are most commony repaired
laparoscopically, so are most other abdominal hernias. Best of luck to
you.

I had to have open due to a huge hernia. I had a VBG, gallbladder removed
and the hernia repair. The hernia repair has been what has taken longest to
heal. If you have any questions I can help with, e-mail me.

Your surgeon will let you know that, but I have heard of those with hernias
having lap. I actually had a hernia, but we didn't know about it, before
surgery. I had the lap RNY and the doc saw it while he was in there but
left it alone. Well, 5 days later, my bowel got kinked and sucked into the
hernia-next day emergency open surgery to repair the kinked bowel and the
hernia. So, ask your doc if he can repair it while he's in there....
