Question:
Has anyone not followed doctors orders about how long to wait for TT?
I'm 6 months post-op and have lost 120lbs....still have 50 to go. I have always been kinda saggy around my arms and thighs, and tummy...even before losing weight, but now it's alot worse....my rny surgeon says that he wants me to wait for another year before having plastic surgery because I;m young and my skin will "probably" go back...but I know it won't I've always lifted weights and you can just tell by the wrinkliness ya know! He hasn't seen these areas so he doesn't know how bad they are. Has anyone ever gone ahead and had plastic surgery by someone else, and not listened to there rny surgeon? PLease let me know! THANX! P.S. I don't wanna have anything done for another 6 months or so.....but don't wanna wait 2 years! — Jennifer M. (posted on August 5, 2002)

My surgeon wanted me to wait at least a year out - which would be November.
However, his reason is he thinks that I'll lose more weight and will then
have to have the plastic surgery redone. I went to the plastic surgeon and
he told me that as long as I'm within 20 pounds of my goal, it was ok to
have the procedures. I'm 13 pounds from goal and my tt is scheduled for
tomorrow. My surgeon really doesn't have a problem with it and he's more
curious as to what I'm going to look like after the tt. After your skin
has been stretched for so many years it doesn't bounce back that great.

I waited for about 9 mos. post-op before I started looking into the TT and
Breast Reduction. My personal opinion is, its your body, you know what you
can handle and what you cant. Just make sure your blood work is all fine
and that you are completely recovered from WLS. Some PLastic Surgeons want
you to be within 20-25 from goal. Well I am 30 lbs. from goal and I had my
TT surgery 07/18/02. I live in Maryland and I thought my PS was great.

My father had his tt before he was near goal and continued to lose
afterwards. Now it looks like he needs another one because he skin just
seems to hang. I want to be at least 20-30 to goal before I have mine
because of how my fathers turned out. Good Luck in whatever you decide.

if this helps, last week i reached my goal, my doctor told me to
maintain for 2 months, then he'll set up the plastic surgeon to remove the
panis..
