Question:
Okay crazy question for the day?????
I had surgery on June 13 and have lost at least 42 lbs. and have now been able to get into some 3 x with elastic, my questions is if i go from 376 - 276 by xmas, which is the plan, what size clothes will that be??? Im 5'7" tall and carry my weight in the middle. The reason for my question is the fact that I have been buying clothes on Ebay, and I dont have many smaller size clothes for the fall winter season. Sorry to make this so long, I just dont want to purchase the wrong size, or miss a great bargain on Ebay either. THANKS A BUNCH — paulsgirl (posted on July 18, 2002)

I'm 5'7", currently 285 pounds and I wear a size 24 pant and 2x top
(3x if I want it baggy). Now, for me, these sizes work best when buying
from a department store (Hecht's or Macy's) or plus size store in the mall
(Lane Byrant) when I'm buying something from Walmart or Target I go bigger.
Hope that helps, happy shopping!

I am 5'9" and just hit 260. I went from a 26/28 pants to a 22, and a
24 shirt to a 18/20. Most of my weight is in the middle also....I can get
into a 2x. I am just a few inches taller, so at 276 I think you will
probably be about a 22 maybe a 24.......but let me warn you, everyone is
different !!!! 276 for you could be a 20 or a 24 big difference. Good Luck

I am 5'7" and 275 pounds. I wear a 22/24 on the bottom and a 22 on
top...24's on top are a bit large. Good luck!

I found that size depends a lot on who made the garment, and the style of
the garment. If it's a dress, and it has an A-line silhouette, I can wear
a smaller size. I'm down to 198 from 302 and I'm 5'9" tall. In some
things, I'm a 16, in others, I'm a 20. If things seem a little tight when
you try them on, that's ok - you'll probably be able to wear them later on!
Good luck to you! :D Margie B

I don't think "anybody" is going to be able to answer this one
for you, "not even you"! The reason I say this is when I was
around 123 lbs (as a teen) I could wear both small and medium shirts. (I
think medium was the shirt of choice). Anyway at 319 I was wearing 3x
shirts. Geese, I'm at 170.75 pounds and I can wear mediums NOW! Go figure!
Wearing mediums at 123, and now wearing them at 170???? We have no idea on
what our size will be! It is all guess work. Sorry. But it sure is nice to
have this wonderful problem. ;)

I am 5'9" and carry my weight around the middle too. As I recall, at
276 lbs., I was a size 24.

Hi,
Everyone loses at such a differant rate that it is very hard to predict
what size you'll be next winter. I started out at 5'6" 270 lbs in a
size 24-26, very tight 2X.
If I were you, I'd wait at least until November-December before I bought
any clothes for winter. Just a suggestion.

I too, started at 5'6, 269 pounds and I was wearing a 22 or 24 and a 3X
shirt. Now, I am at 240, wearing a 20 and 2X. Good luck! And congrats on
the weight loss so far! I had surgery the day before you and have lost 29
pounds.

The size/weight thing has me all confused!!! I started 1 year ago at about
270 lbs. I did buy clothing at garage sales for the winter and next
summer. But I was waaay off!
I am 5'8", starting weight 270ish sz 26-28, I figured that by this
summer I'd be in a sz 18. Well much to my surprise I am (still 5'8"
:) ), but now 165lb and a sz 8-10!!
People are always surprised at my weight, they think I'm much 'lighter'!
You never know how you're gonna MELT! Don't buy but a size or two in
advance. I donated some really
nice clothing to our women's room because I was tooo far thinking!

I'm 5'7" and started at 380 like you carrying most of my weight in the
middle. Right now I'm at 295 and wearing 24/22 tops (as my chest has
disappeared) and starting to wear 24 pants so I figure another 20 pounds
would have me comfortably in 2x 22-24
