Question:
Any Medical Profs? Need help with results
I was wondering if any of you out there can help me. I'm in the medical field and know these results are not great. I'm 6 weeks post op and a UA today showed. Bilirubin = off the charts, Protein = +3, Ketones = small amount, Red blood = trace, Leuks = +2. What concerns me the most is the Bilirubin. Anyone have any idea what causes this? I do have an appt with my doctor on Saturday. Just wondered if I could get some ideas sooner. Thanks! — Victoria P. (posted on June 17, 2002)

according to Mosby's, "Obstruction of the bile duct by a gallstone is
the classic example of obstructed bilirubin excretion causing a direct
hyperbilirubinemia".However, it also states that inflammation, &
surgical trauma could elavate it. and that certain drugs will interfere,
IE: antibiotics, barbiturates, diuretics, & oral contraceptives! Hope
this helps more than it confuses you!!
