Question:
Obesity related feminine odor... for women only!
I may be going veyr personal here, but I am pre-op and have a problem. As being obese, there is fat everwhere that skinny people do not have. One of those places being on the folds by the pubic area. I also have stress incontinence that attributes to this, but I am looking to see if anyone else has this problem and if I can get something to help get rid of the odor. I have trie the feminine wipes and spray, but they just mask it and do not seem to help. I was everyday and it just seems to help for a little while. Can someone who possibly has this proble let me know what I can do to remedy it? I would be forever grateful. Thank you. — sammygirlwpc (posted on May 25, 2002)

I wash everyday also. I have that problem. I have invested in Shower to
Shower with baking soda. There is a feminine spray product on the market
that is genuinely for urine orders. It does not mask the smell it takes it
away. When I remember the name I will let you know.

I've cared for some obese elderly patients with this problem and have used
an anti perspirant/deodorant for the problem. Sure it sounds crazy, but it
worked! If you can stop the perspiration, sometimes you can stop the odor.
We used a solid stick form of deodorant/antiperspirant. Hope this helps!

The best solution I found for the crease yeast infections was Lotrimin
antifungal (or generic clone). If it is sorta crumbly and powders only
make it worse, and it stinks badly and seems to ooze, it's yeast. And you
have to kill them. They like warm & moist. Decrease the population of
the yeast. To get it cleard to start, I washed & dried and applied a
line of the cream (not ointment, not powder) to the crease, THREE times
daily for a few days, then 2, then once daily did the job. But that was
wash & dry each time. As to the other problem, there are several
steps before diapers. Maybe pantiliners changed frequently will help with
the other odor. Because that area is moist, it's possible there is another
colony of yeast? If so, you might try the preparations made for yeast for
women, perhaps just applied as a cream to the outside. I had an external
yeast inf recently and that worked great & I didn't have to take the
Diflucan (to which one can build a tolerance). Of course, one hopes you've
already been thru this with your doc, but a dermatologist is another source
of info.

GOLD BOND MEDICATED BABY POWDER...The best stuff I have found. I no longer
have any problems and it only took a few times of using it that I realized
it.I keep using it and I tell everyone about it. I have tried all the other
products but in my opinion this is the BEST. And it smells good to.

If you're using regular menstrual pads or panti liners for your
incontinence problem I suggest switching to a pad specifically designed for
handling urine. It holds it away from your skin and controls the odor a
hundred times better than regular pads. They are more expensive but they
also come in different absorbantsy ratings to handle everything from very
minor leaks to much more severe incontinence. Hope this helps. Shelly

I have to agree with Melissa. Summer's Eve feminine wash followed by
Summer's Eve powder. Works great for underbelly sweat and irritation as
well. Hope you try it.
P.S. WALMART SEEMS TO SELL THE LARGE BOTTLES FOR FAIRLY CHEAP AS WELL.

I have this problem with the red blotches too. I was told you can get a
yeast infection basically int he rolls. To control the sweat and stuff I
wash with Dandruff shampoo to kill any yeast and sometimes use Athletes
foot POWDER spray. It comes out a power and doesn't leave a big mess. With
the heat it also helps kill off and "bugs" that may spring up in
the warm wet spots.
