I am 10 days post op. When I first came home, my stomach was growling all the time. I told the dr. that and he said he'd follow up on it. Now everything I eat or drink gurgles in my throat. I couldn't find much about it in the library. HELP!! Is this normal? (open rny 5-2-02) — candymom64 (posted on May 12, 2002)

Phyllis: You and I had our surgeries the same day! My tummy does the same
growling noise as yours and it gets embarrassing. I've been told our new
tummy works as a funnel so it grumbles when food comes down. Also been told
this will stop in about 2-3 weeks. Good luck! Right there with ya!

Hi...I had my surgery on May 2nd and TODAY is the first day that I'm not
burpy and gurgling with every swallow. So I'm sure it will clear up for
you soon, too. I know, it is very annoying. Also be prepared...the
sensation of hunger returned today. Hugs, Joy

Hi....I would have to agree with the last post. I had surgery about 4 1/2
weeks ago and that gurgling, burpiness while eating is gone. It was
embarassing...but it doesn't last forever. Good Luck!

I remember that! It was like a drain, and the liquid would swirl and
gurgle until it went down. Swwoooosh, swwiiish. It goes away. Every once
in a while, I'll hear it again, but its much more quiet. I used to get it
with every drink. A friend of mine just 10 days behind me said her kids
always laughed and said, 'theres a frog in your throat'!
