Question:
Aetna MC POS special circumstances????
I only have tried fad diets and failed many, but dr said go on diabetic diet for while and didn't work, does this count as med supp. diet? I can't take diet pills due to seizures, but have other co morbid that count, will I still have a problem with Aetna? BMI 39.8, Deg. Disc disease, urinary incontinence, family history of obesity, heart, diabities, etc. — freeddove40 (posted on April 3, 2002)

I have Aetna MC POS and was approved quickly I have a higher BMI, but my
only co morbidity is high blood pressure. I had to include a diet history
but I was told to include everything I have done not just medically
supervised. I would include doctor suggested diets even if they weren't
supervised and lable them as such. Good luck

I have Aetna Open PPO so I can only speak from MY experience. I needed the
following: proof of 5 years of morbid obesity, 2 3-month- long medically
supervised diets, complete medical history with weigh-ins, high BMI (over
40), several co-morbid conditions (unfortunately at the ripe age of 30 I
have many)and I hounded AETNA for 10 months until they finally approved me
yesterday! Have all your ducks in a row!
