Question:
Insurance doesn't cover RNY. How do I get insurance to cover Endoscopy?
What is the test for... to determine what? I don't think I have an "honest" reason for having the test done. I know a couple of Gastro. MD's, so having one done shouldn't be a problem but my insurance IS going to pay for this, if nothing else. What reason should I give for needing the test? — KelBurt (posted on January 14, 2002)

Heartburn or GERD? Ask your PCP to document some kind of complaint. It's
very commom for the obese to have gerd... so I dont think that theyll ask
too many questions.

An Endoscopy is a procedure using a tube with a camera on the end to go
down into your stomach to see what is going on. It allows the doc to see
if there are any abnmormalities. Insurance routinely cover this
procedure... It is a common procedure.

My insurance covered my endoscopy. My internal medicine specialist wanted
to test me for GERD and my pulmonologist thought I may have esophagitis so
AETNA covered without any problems. I think the procedure was around
1800.00, give or take a hundred. I paid about 87.00.
