Question:
Has anyone experienced numbness that comes and goes in the middle of their back?
I am almost 4 months post-op, RYN and have lost 68 LBS. I have had this numbness in the middle of my back for almost a month now. Sometimes it is really numb, the area is about the size of an apple. I would appreciate any helpful comments. — Kathy H. (posted on December 23, 2001)

I really don't know what to tell you, but I do think you should call into
your surgeons office and ask him. It is probably nothing, but to be on the
safe side and get a defintative answer you should call anyways... Take
care!!!

The numbness that I have on my back is about 3 inches above my butt. I\'m
not used to sleeping on my back or sitting so long. I got it while in the
hospital and at 11 days post-op, it\'s still there. My chiropractor said
that it was from so much sitting and sleeping and that that apple-sized
spot is where all my weight is hitting. I do notice that when lying down
on my back, it hits there and when I start to slump when I sit, it hits.
I\'ve been sleeping on my stomach now for 5 days and making sure I sit up
when I\'m sitting down and the numbness is starting to go away. I have
also noticed that the recliner is a big no-no. It positions my body in a
way that hits the numb spot. Hope this helps. Email me if you have any
more questions.
