Question:
I'm 18 months post op, occasionally have unrelenting stomach pain.

Occasionally I have ab pain, under the rib cage, stomach area. I've had gall bladder removed already. Nothing seems to help, can't figure out if it's food related. I eat most everything. Feels like my ribs and the stomach area is bruised. It stays that way 4-5 days then goes away. I can't function during that time. It's intense. I don't have a supportive surgeon and he's too far away now. Please help.    — Toni B. (posted on December 10, 2001)

I really don't know what it could be since your gallbladder has already been removed, but I would definately get it checked out, if not by your surgeon than maybe by your PCP. Pain is your bodies way of telling you something is not quite right and I wouldn't ignore it or let it go for much longer. Have you had your appendix out yet? It generally won't hurt under the rib cage, but then mine never hurt where it was suppose to either. I finally had to have exploratory surgery to find out it had ruptured. Appendix attacks can come and go, same as kidney stone attacks... go see someone and get it checked out... Good luck!
