Question:
Has anyone ever heard of or used......
the "non-insurance" type healthcare program or a medical savings benefit provider? It says the costs of surgery is reduced as well as RX's. the cost is only $50 a month for a family, and that makes me skeptical in itself as to how good it is. Does anyone have any information? — Lynda T. (posted on October 18, 2001)

Lynda - In my opinion it's not worth much. We have a program called
"Care Entree", and have only saved a few dollars on prescriptions
and a very small amount on a hospital procedure. The doctors I've talked to
about it say it's pretty worthless and many are put on the list of
participating doctors without being consulted. I have no med. insurance and
have found that the Doctor's or hospital's cash price is much lower than
the so-called "discounted" price. I paid cash for my BPD, and the
hospital only charged $6800.00, but told us that they charge $25,000.00 to
the insurance co. Doctors will also charge a "cash" price, which,
in my case was $40.00 compared to the $75.00 that our Care Entree wanted us
to pay. It's just not what it's touted to be.
