Question:
How are people able to drink 64oz. of water and eat high protien foods??
I am 3mo post-op and I have lost 63lbs to date. I am having a very hard time drinking and eating protien foods. I am really not sure what is high protien foods. The place I had my surgery does not really have much info. on these matters. I actually know more than they did. If I try to drink alot of the water, I get so full I can not eat much at all, and if I try to eat a bit more than I can not get my water in. I am very tired all the time. Please help. — Mary P. I do not use food as a protein source. Takes up space and I can't get
enough on board to use anyway. Why bother? I eat them, but do not count
them or worry if I don't get them in. I meet the basic 8 elements by
supplement. These are the 8 lost with the use of normal stomach function.
The rest of the elements can be gotten from food, to the best of my
research, so I save the food for stuff I can "use" and supplement
the rest of it. Seems to work. Same weight for years now. Good labs, happy
and small pouch.

Basically, you get your high protein foods from animals. So that's what
you try to get first....milk, cheese, beef, chicken, turkey. Now, if you
can tolerate the meat, you should go for that before the cheese, as it's
lower in fat. I have the same problem with the water making me full. Just
try to sip all day, but take a break an hour or two before attempting your
protein. It's good that the water gets you full...it will keep you from
overeating. Good luck.

I have no problem getting a fair amount of protein down, but it was the
water that gave me problems. I started drinking Isopure (tastes like
koolaid) at work to up both my protein and liquid intake. It seems to work
pretty well. I average 2/3 to one drink a day at 40 grams of protein per
drink. I get the 20 ounces of drink plus about 12 ounces of water from
letting the ice melt. That's half my daily!
