Question:
Does anyone know a good website?
I am looking for some exercise tapes that are not too difficult for someone pre-op. Not Richard Simmons, he annoys me. I would love some actually done by big people for big people, but I can't find any. I want to get into better shape before surgery. Can anyone help? I would really appreciate it:-) Specifically I am looking for low impact aerobics and/or stretching/yoga, but any info would be great. — S B. (posted on March 26, 2001)

I'm sorry to say I have never seen a video(other than Richard Simmons)who
uses "normal size" people from every shape and size.Every one
else(including the t.v. shows)uses unrealistic Barbie size folks.I'm not
encouraged by these well meaning folks because most of them have probably
never struggled with but a few pounds here and there. At least with Richard
you see Obese people who are able to do it and know that you can too. I
know he also has one now for extremely obese/disabled who can only sit and
do very little.Let us know if you find anything! The other good thing about
Richard is he does this for a living and has for years. Jane Fonda dsn't do
this anymore and several of the others who jumped on the bandwagon. What
about Taebo? I know my neighbor loves it!

There's a place in Yakima, WA where an exercise salon was started
especially for overweight women. If I recall, they started to open chains
all over the country and they also did an exercise video. Now, I can't
recall the name of it for the life of me right now (but someone else
might). Hopefully they aren't out of business. If I remember right, their
tapes were rated as a pretty good low impact workout.
