Question:
Wondering what EXACTLY they do

Could someone please tell me, specifically, what they do for a breast "lift"? I'm looking at Carnie Wilson in Playboy and she has nice firm breasts that are in the right place. Doesn't seem as though she has implants...I'm wondering what that process is. Thanks in advance.    — Donya P. (posted on July 10, 2003)

You could 'google' the term breast lift and read any plastic surgeons description. However, in the interest of time, basically, what I had done is called a keyhole procedure: they mark equal spots higher up on the boob. They cut around the aerola and lift it and all the attached nerves, milk buds, etc up to the new hole, wrap the lower part around the bottom and remove the backside and bottom of the breast and inner fatty tissue. They suture the remaining skin under the breast to the skin on the upper abdomen. When it is all done, you have suture lines around the aerola, a single line from the bottom of the aerola to the base crease and the base crease, hence the term 'keyhole.' My surgeon made my right aerola slightly bigger than my left so the appearance looks completely natural. The suture lines have faded to white and will soon fade to a natural color. My downward dog yoga pose, golf swing and tennis backhand are no longer impeded!

Just FYI, Carnie Wilson DID have implants. I heard her talking about them on Howard Stern. It's funny, though, because the article in People magazine (quite some time ago) that talked all about her reconstructive surgery, never mention the implants. Maybe she went back and had that done at a later time.
