I am now 7 months post and down 105. I still would like to lose another 50
or so pounds. My doctor doesn't want us using protein supplements but to
get our protein from food and he only wants me eating 3 meals per day.
Here's a sample of what I eat. For breakfast I have 1/2 cup of lofat
cottage cheese. Recently, I've been hungrier so I just started also eating
2 strawberries with my cottage cheese. For lunch, I will have 1/2 can of
tuna on lettuce and 1-2 T of dressing. As an alternative, I'll have 1 slice
of wheat bread and 3 oz of Jennie-O turkey breast and a little mayo. For
dinner, I will have 3-4 ounces of steak, chicken, shrimp, burger, salmon or
pork. I'll also have a small salad or 1/4 cup of brocolli or string beans.
I get in about 80 ounces of water each day and I do some sort of exercise
(tennis, housecleaning/gardening, walking, etc) about 4 times per week.
This adds up to about 30 g of carbs and 65 or so grams of protein. Hope
this helps.

Hi there... does your doctor have a dietician or nutrition counselor on
staff? If not, you might try to find one on your own.. its much better to
work with someone like that.. to help you fit a varied but healthy diet
into your life... that said... I'm much further out than you are, so I'll
not give you what I eat each day, you'll eat less and different things. I
will suggest if you get at least one good protein drink in a day you'll be
way ahead of the game. Good luck.

Onya, can you reach a goal with bad food choices? sure you can, or you'll
atleast get close. Now will that weight stay off you? nope. It's pretty
easy to lose alot of weight with this surgery, the first 6 months- 1 year
are almost fool proof. What many don't realize or aren't properly prepared
for is that this surgery is a tool. You will not be a "success
story" unless you change your habits now. This is the learning phase.
We have to kill our bad habits and pick up new ones. Not that's not to say
you have to be on a "diet" I'm 1 year post-op and am surpassing
my goal. I don't consider myself to be on a diet, but I do count calories
and make sure I get in all my protein. I allow myself treats, but I also
allow myself healthy foods before that. I have a sample diet on my profile-
but I'm more far out than you. So, for example, instead of picking up
iecream, get some yogurt, or instead of chips, pick up some veggies. Those
are the types of things we have to learn to eat and become accustomed to in
order to maintain healthy way of living. It's not too late, it's really
never too late, but better to better yourself now than 1 year post-op and a
cuple lbs. heavier. Goodluck to you. :-)
