Question:
I'm Pre-op and I'm having trouble with
I was wondering if anyone could tell me what this is...the rotten egg breath and this nasty gas...from both ends..sorry to be crude! It's a weird horrible pressure when I'm lying down and when I sit up ..there's this weird rumbling feeling followed by this horrific belch that tastes like rotten eggs(not that I would know what they taste like!) It's like something has fermented in my stomach. What is this and should I see my Dr. about it? I'm in the process of getting approved for Open Rny. — kathleen-Joan piper (posted on April 6, 2003)

Are you on a protien diet right now. Sometimes ketosis will give you that
bad breath and protiens can sometimes give you gas.

Hi,
I had this pretty bad for the first few post op weeks. I kinda figured
it had to do with the protein shakes. It's a little better now. I can't
define the smell of the breath, but to be a little gross, the other end
reminds me of burning rubber and broccoli. Really gross!!!

My son has "rotten egg breath" whenever his allergies are running
rampant. He had to go to an allergist and get shots to get it under
control. Once he did, it went away.
However, whenever he gets really congested, or needs shots, it smells like
he "passed gas" whenever he belches! He's a total joy to live
with!! LOL
