Question:
Is there a waiting period for BCBS?

MY INSURANCE WILL GO IN EFFECT THE END OF THE MONTH, I HAVE BCBS OF ALABAMA PREFERRED CARE. I ALREADY MADE AN APPOINTMENT WITH A SURGEON FOR AUGUST 6TH AND I AM HOPING THAT EVERYTHING GOES WELL.. In mine, yes. I would not pursue anything because then they will call it pre-existing. Mine was also medically necessary and they tried to get pre-existing on those medical problems as well. My weight issues had been documented for five years due to a car accident. I was put on meds because the extra weight was not helping my back to heal from the accident. I know you are anxious, but I would advise you to wait and start the procedure after you know more about your policy. I did not need referrals but I had to have PCP support. Good luck...it's not easy...believe me. I went through one appeal, but my boss is a lawyer and I think her letter convinced them to pre-approve surgery.
