Question:
Low Protein intake...help!
I am 3 weeks out and averaging about 30gms of protein a day, which is exactly half of what my doctor wants. I have resorted to fresh yogurt and protein shakes from a designer juice place. The van/choc/str. ones that come in cans make me sick. I'm going to start making them at home tomorrow, but this is still gonna be hard. Any suggestions until I can "eat" again? Any positive comments? Everytime I try to eat pulverized chicken or even scrambled and chopped eggs I vomit. No more vomiting...I'm back on "full liquids". — Sandra W. (posted on May 18, 2001)

Have you tried Carnation Instant Breakfast, No Sugar Added, made with skim
milk only 160 calories and 13gr protein. The Chocolate tastes really good.
Also I try to get in a half cup of 1% small curd cottage cheese, it has a
whopping 13-15 grams of protein with only 80 calories.. Good luck...

HI
the best way that I know of would be to buy some soft tofu...... You can
blend an ounce into your protien shakes and up the protien content or if
you can do cream soups of ANY kind blend a couple ounces into them
before heating you wont taste it and it boost the protien really well
Good Luck

hi, a GNC store carries a liquid protein. It's flavor is cherry. You can
add I think it is two teaspoons or table spoons to your bottle of water,
add a sweet n low and BAM, it tastes like cherry kool aid. that helps in
the beginning to get all your protein and water in. You are knocking them
both out in one drink. Good luck! down 75 pounds! three mo. post op

Check at your local grocery store and see if they carry "Silk"
soy milk. It's high in protein, lactose free and tastes GREAT! I cook
w/it and love to drink it out of a glass! It's a little more expensive
than regular/low fat milk but it's wonderful! I drink a cup in the morning
(6.5-7.0 grams of protein) and a cup in the evening! I also ordered some
soy protein chews from a place called St. Raphael's who are in CA. I found
them thru a "Shape" magazine, I love them, though they don't give
all the protein we need they are enjoyable for the 3-4 grams they do give
us (all veggie proteins).
