Question:
Pain meds for cronic pain after surgery?
I take pain med for cronic pain and I'm wondering how I will still be able to take them right after surgery. I am dependent on them and the thought of not taking them for a while after surgery is something that I don't find appealing, call me nuts. Has anyone else had to deal with this problem? Thanks, Brett — Brett S. (posted on January 2, 2000)

Brett, since my surgery in Sept. I have had severe pain right in the center
of my back, it is chronic, w\out pain killer I am literately unable to
function or eat, not that I even wanna eat when I'm not in pain (no
appitite) but I can't even force myself to eat, I just get sick. I've been
on Roxicet (liquid percicet) which of course is addictive, sometimes if
makes me sick when I take it, the effect doesn't last very long either, so
my pcp is working at getting me off this with that patch, the one the
previous responce mentioned, anyway the patch is called Duragesic, it works
continuously for 3 days, then you replace it with a new patch, it does
work, my pcp had to increase the dosage so I rarely need the roxicet, soon
I won't need it at all and hopefully we'll be able to find out what is
causing this pain and be able to take care of that then get off the patch
too.
