Question:
My tongue is numb!!!
I am one week post-op and my tongue is still numb. I first noticed it the day I had surgery when I first woke up. At first I thought nothing of it, but now it is really bugging me. It's the tip of my tongue that is numb and the taste buds there don't work. Anyone heard of this before?? — megmegmegmeg (posted on July 22, 2003)

Mehgan, does your mouth taste metalliac too?? If so, get thee to your doc
pronto... you could have had a mild palsey, and it needs to be medicated.
Tell your doc even if it doesn't taste metally... having a numb tongue
isn't normal, okay! Let me know how it goes!

The same thing happened to me but it was my lip. Because of the tubing
lying on your tongue too long. It eventually goes away.

This also happened to me and lasted about 3 weeks. It was driving me crazy
and I thought I can't live like this the rest of my life. Just be patient
and it will wake up. My doctor said sometimes it takes certain parts of
your body longer to wake up from all the drugs they give you. Hang in
there.
