Question:
Can the band slip with physical exertion?
I think the lap bad is my choice for wls, but have heard that it can move or slip if the "bandster" exerts him or herself physically. In my job, I often have to lift about 50lb sacks, and deal with injured large animals, which often involves having to lift, push, pull, etc. Has anyone had a problem with the band migrating, slipping? Thanks for listening. — Karen A. (posted on July 7, 2003)

A properly installed band shouldn't slip. There are bandsters involved in
full contact martial arts, weight lifting, belly dancing...my surgeon even
told us at an info session that one of her patients was in a really bad
automobile accident and her band suffered no damage.

I also work on a farm. I carry these feed bags weighing 50 lbs. daily, and
more. I think with an experienced surgeon this is really a non-issue. I
was banded 3/02 and have lost all I want to (110 lbs.) and maintained the
weight of 145 for about 5 months. There are a couple of things I could do
better when I weighed 100 lbs. more, such as loading animals in the
trailer, so now I just hire someone else to do that, and go on my merry
way. I would do this again in a heartbeat. Good Luck

My doctor told me that I don't have any physical limitations such as
lifting/carrying heavy objects because of the band.
