Question:
Anyone Eastern Orthodox and how did the fastings and communion affect you?

I am an Orthodox Christian where fastings and weeking communion are part of who we are? Has anyone else here had this surgery and how did you handle communion and the fastings? I would appreciate any advise. Thank you, Linda    — Linda K. (posted on January 12, 2003)

Linda - I too, am Eastern Orthodox and am scheduled for Open RNY on March 3rd - I don/t anticipate any problems with the fasts that we observe according to my research. After the initial post -op recovery, we may eat the same foods (usually) as we used too, but in much less volume. IF, we have problems with meds or food, our religion allows for older folks or folks like us who may have medical issues - just consult with your priest and be as honest as possible - he will help- I am sure.
