Question:
hey everyone just wanted to know..........
just wanted to know if you think im doing or losing at a good rate. i had lap rny on 4/17/02 and lost 107 pounds so far may be more(last time i checked was in the middle of sept. i feel so energized and happy. the only thing i must confessedis that i dont take my vitamins and calcium, like im supposed to , i hate protein shakes and get my protein in by what i eat, and i drink a lil water. i think i am slacking and i know i should be drinking more water than waht i am, and believe me i am going to work on that, has anyone else just started to slip up for a min or go through some kind of phase if so how did you overcome that little thing..........thanks — stacey T. First of all, congratulations on your weight loss!! You're doing great-BUT
it is very important for you to take your vitamins and calcium faithfully
or you will pay in the longrun! Also a "little" water isn't
enough; you need to keep your body well hydrated in order to stay healthy
and keep the weight loss going. Try to get in at least 64 oz of water (or
Crystal Lite, decaf tea, etc) every day. I know it's hard but will get
easier with time.

The most IMPORTANT thing to do after surgery is to take your supplements!
You may be losing weight great now but down the road you are going to have
MEDICAL problems due to vitamin deficenties ( sorry don't know the
spelling). One of which WILL be osteporosis. Taking your supps is not a
hard thing to get into the habit of. Try keeping them on the kitchen table
and at every meal take you calcium CITRATE and your other vitamins. If it
is easier, get a pill box that has a compartment for every day of the week,
morning, noon, and night. You can get them at Wal Mart or probably any
other pharmacy. Put your vitamins in that so when you sit down to eat your
breakfast you can just open it up and take what you need. Then at lunch and
dinner do the same thing. I had a hard time getting into the habit of it
also, but this worked for me. Now it's automatic. It really is VERY
important for you to get those supplements in. Good luck to you.

I have the same problems as you do. Shame on both of us. As far as the
weight loss.... I was 108 pounds on my six month aniversary.

I have my pill containers placed strategically around the house and keep
one in my purse. I keep 2 calcium citrates in the bathroom, one for when I
get up, and one right before bed. One container in the kitchen with my 2
multis, 2 iron and B-12, which I take one set of at each meal. I also keep
a container of 2 citrate near the computer, so when I am checking the AMOS
??'s, I remember to take another citrate if I haven't already. And then I
take another one at another interval. I don't ALWAYS remember to take all
of them. At the end of the day if there is one left that I didn't get to
take, I shake my head in disappointment because what is left in the
container will be a depletion of something within my health. May not show
up now, but in the years to come. I really try to take all of them.

Hi! Your wt. loss is fantastic! I had surgery 4/15/02 and have lost only
50 lbs.......with 100 to go!
Take your vits, calcium, drink your water, and follow all of your dr and
dieticians guidelines...your body will thank you for it when you are my
age!
Take care and God bless!

Well I think you are doing great, I'm 6 months also and
down 65#. I'm also a nurse and have seen the results of
some vit def. and it isn't funny to be in those catagories.
Brittle bones from oesto is hell when you are older and
already stiff from arthritis. Liver damage is awful and if
your low on B12 you have no energy and it takes awhile to
replace and get back to a good level. Take your vits
faithfully so you don't get into trouble. After all the
work you are doing to loose weight you want to be able to
enjoy the results. I use a pill box and take it with me
around the house so I will remember to take my pills.
I also bought myself the timer pill box from Avon to help
me remember. At my age 56 (ughh) I sometimes have brain
farts and forget what I'm suppose to do. Best wish and
God Bless You.
