Question:
taking a long time to heal
Had surgery on 9/30. Most of incision has seemed to heal. In the middle of scar it starts to scab then something will touch it ( gauze ) then it peels off scab, and I have to start from scratch, with clear puss coming out. For get wearing cloths over it. Is there anything I can do to move things along? — Christi S. (posted on October 21, 2002)

I had this happen with my last c-section incision and here's what I did.
Of course I suggest seeing your surgeon first :>)
Mix half saline (you can get this cheap at any pharmacy - just ask for it)
and half peroxide - never use full strength as it eats tissue! - blot the
area that is oozing. Now sit in front of a fan until the area is perfectly
dry. Apply Neosporin. Do this three to four times a day and try and keep
all things off of it - wear a half shirt or bra around the house for a
couple of days. I'm sure you'll get lots of suggestions, but really a
phone call to your surgeon (or his/her nurse) would be quick and comforting

I had the same problem in the area that the drain tube came out of. I put
neosporin on the gauze for a couple of days and it healed up fast.
