Question:
been denied by Aetna HMO
I just found out today that Aetna HMO has denied my surgery scheduled for Oct. 23rd because I haven't been morbidly obese for five years. I would appreciate any suggests. I was thinking of trying to pay cash, and in the mean time file an appeal. Has anyone done this and been renburst for the surgery? — Robin T. (posted on October 10, 2002)

Hi There,
I'm not sure about your ins. co but I can tell you that I am a self pay
patient and I have worked out a payment plan with my surgeon and hospital
so maybe you could do that while you appeal the ins. companies decision.
Just a thought.

I also have, well HAD, AETNA. How long have you had a BMI over 40 and can
you prove it's been over 5 years? How about co-morbidities, I know in some
cases, AETNA will reconsider their denial if you have the 'right'
illnesses. My profile has my AETNA story, check it out! Email me provately
if you need any help with AETNA.
