Question:
Has anyone experienced swelling after eating?

I am almost 1 year post op and have started having problems eating. Everytime I eat my stomach swells very tight and I get sick and have to lay down. It doesn't matter what I eat or how much. I tried liquids today and didn't swell but got nauseaus. I had an Open RNY 10-10-01 and am down 122 lbs. Thanks for the help.    — Bethany F. (posted on October 1, 2002)

Hi beth, Are you sure you just don't have somekind of virus?but i would definitely call your surgeon and ask him about this but don't panic it might just be a virus or something.Good luck let me know what happens.

are you drinking your water? the other nite at our support group someone had the same complaints and she was not drinking. our nurse told her to drink her water and she should see an improvement. with that being said, I would call your doctor office and talk to him/her...

Are you talking about internal swelling or your abdomen swelling? I have the "external" swelling after I eat sometimes. I have to loosen my waistband like I just ate Thanksgiving dinner even though I usually eat a cup or less of food. I don't know what does it, but I DON'T drink enough water. Maybe that has something to do with it. I usually am not sick when that happens but it is uncomfortable. I don't really have any advice but I will be watching to see what others say about this. You aren't alone!

Thank you for your support. I don't know what it was but it stopped yesterday. It may have been just a virus.
