Question:
I am 4 days post op I shake and sweat and become light headed, WHY?
I am 4 days post op and find that I shake, sweat and become light headed at the same time. Has anyone out there experienced this? What am I doing wrong? Is there something you did to ease it? I am following my diet from the dietician. Any help would be appreciated. Jennifer — Jennifer F. (posted on April 21, 2002)

This is advice from my father who is 1+ year post op- first, dont try doing
to much because your body is adjusting to the changes. This should subside
in a couple of weeks as long as you follow your doctor's orders and are
taking your vitamins as required. Good Luck!

Jennifer,
Could you be hypoglycemic? I have 2 diabetics in my family, and this is
what happens to them when they get a low blood sugar. Although I wouldn't
recommend drinking something sweet, maybe a little bit of carbs would help
get your sugar back up. Worth a try.

Are you getting a lot of milk, applesauce, yogurt? Those are all high
sugar, so you may be making yourself dump, over & over again. What all
are you supposed to be eating? And how much at a time?

At 4 days post-op, I was constantly sick and nauseous from the clear liquid
diet. With my doctor's permission, I added protein shakes on 5th day and
puree on day 7. No more problems. I was just starving to death prior to
the addition of puree!

Sorry to hear you are not feeling well. Have you thought about the meds
you were given? Are you on painkillers now? and you probablt had morphine
in the hospital. Narcotics are extremely difficult to withdrawal from, so
it may be that. Your symptoms are similar to withdrawal from substances,
even though you may have only been on them for a few days. Check with your
doc though.
