Question:
I've lost 100 lbs in 4 1/2 mos. but my weight has stopped -
I have been on this "plateau" for about 1 month now. Have I lost all I am going to lose? I dont like water, but I drink hot tea and liquids all the time - exercise everyday. I still do not like meats, but I try to eat soups, and vegetables. I do however, snack on salty things (it stays down at least)! I still eat very little and can not understand not losing any pounds. I am losing inches - according to my clothes, but I want to see those scales MOVE. Any suggestions? — Susan G. (posted on March 17, 2002)

Hi Susan, One hundred pounds in four and a half months is outstanding.
Maybe your body is adjusting to the rapid loss and needs some time. I
worry that you are not getting the meats. Are you getting enough protein
in? Also if you are exercising, you could be burning more calories than
you are taking in so your body has gone into starvation mode. With inches
still going, the scale will catch up. Have you had your bloodwork done
since surgery? Were your stats OK?

No doubt you spent a lot of time at this weight in the past. Its NORMAL for
our bodies to remember and stall out for a time on the way DOWN! I stalled
at about 242 pounds and was unhappy. This happened tp be my high school
graduation weight. Guess what? I now weigh 188 see my profile. Your doing
grat, enjoy being one of the big loosers!

Congratulations on the weight loss!! That's a tremendous amount of weight
in such a short time. One thing to think about, is salt. You indicated
you eat a lot of salty foods. Maybe you might be retaining water due to
that salt??
