Question:
Need info regarding Cigna PPO
I have been awaiting final word from Cigna PPO for about a month. I found out yesterday that my information has been sent to the Home Plan--what does this mean and how long should this take? I have a tentative surgery date for 3/25/02 and would hate to have a delay. Any info would be appreciated. — Annette C. (posted on March 5, 2002)

I have cigna ppo. You will need to look on the back of your insurance card
and call the 1 800 # press 0 to speak with an operator, and then just
explain your situation to the operator. Let them know that your doctor or
you has sent in a predetermination letter over a month ago for gastric
bypass surgery. Tell them that by law they are only supposed to have 30
days to reveiw it, and their thirty days is up. Also tell them that they
need to go find your information and take it to the medical review board
and call you back with an answer today.
If you mailed the information in, it might not be as easy for them to
find it, but you can ask them for their fax number and instead of having
them go find it, just have your doctor fax it in again. It may take up to
two days for them to get the fax, but once they do they should take it to
the medical review board and you should have answer right away. You can
also read my profile to see what I did. Usually if you just keep calling
them, and asking them if they have any updated information they will keep a
log of when you call, and someone will get you some answers.
Good luck!
