Question:
Has anyone else noticed a change in there skin... I have zits !!!!!!

I have never had zits even in high school. I would only get one or two a month. But I have noticed that I have got a small communtiy on my temples. I was just wondering if anyone else has had this problem or if it is just what I am choosing to eat. I have been eating alot of cheese products. But not sweets. Never heard of cheese causing zits. I am 30 and I had a open a month ago    — christie K. (posted on February 6, 2002)

YES YES YES I have never had a skin problem but I do now, I get in all my protein daily and close to my water but somehow my face arms and chest have zits small ones but still rough to the touch, I will be going to see my doc on 02-15-02 so I will find out then, I have noticed that a moisturizer seems to help a little so maybe it is caused by the change in diet I don't know.

I had this same problem about 5-6 months after my surgery. I researched previous info on this site and found out I needed to see a dermatologist for an antibiotic. I did go and took an oral antibiotic and within a few weeks all was cleared up. I don't remember the name of the medicine, but I will need to go back because it is slowly starting up again. Good luck.

As your surgeon may have mentioned, when the female body burns fat, it releases estrogen. All these hormones surging through our bodies causes acne. Nothing serious, but if it bugs you, I would definitely visit either a dermatologist or an endocrinologist who should be able to help.

I am so happy to hear that I am not the only one! I have never had any acne problems and now I am breaking out like crazy. Small zits all over my face. Does it ever go away??? Geez, I finally start looking good and feeling good and now I have this problem. When I get my insurance back, I am going to a dermatologist because no matter what I use helps.

It may or may not be related to the surgery. I also rarely got zits in HS, but when I hit 30, I developed adult acne - and it's fairly common. What a pain in the butt to be an adult, standing in the zit medication aisle at the drug store. Thankfully, it all went alway by the time I was 40. I had my surgery 9 weeks ago, and have only broken out in one zit (which I get about once every 6 months - go figure - and lasts for weeks).

Hi: I don't have the zit breakouts going on but I am almost 6 months post op and my problems is REALLY REALLY dry skin and HORRIBLY chapped lips. My lips are so bad that I use a lip moisturizer about 15 times per day and they are still cracking open. I have upped my water to almost 120 ozs per day......anyone have any answers to my "pruney" skin???????

Hi. I had horrible acne, whiteheads, blackheads and just plain NASTY skin from the fourth week of surgery up until I ordered and started using the Proactive Solution. Yep, the stuff you see on the infommercials. It has done wonders for my skin and my self confidence has grown. I'm 14 weeks post op and feeling lovely!

Yes, surgery wreaks havoc with your hormones. A few weeks after mine, my face broke out so bad I felt like a teen again, I'm 32. It has since cleared up and is as smooth as can be now. My skin is better than it was before WLS. Just give it a few weeks and if it doesn't get better then explore other avenues, but it is completely normal after surgery.

This is in answer to the "pruney" skin request. I have Sjogrens syndrome which makes me VERY dry skinned. First and formost, you are right, up the water. Secondly, are you getting enough fats in your system? Are you getting any? Thirdly, I tryed ROC moisturizing cream and within a week noticed a phenomenal difference. Might try it, I guess it can't hurt. Good luck to you.
