Question:
When and who do I talk to to see if I am approved at Humana HMO?
All of my information was sent to Human on Nov. 8th 2001, today is Nov. 28th, I have not heard anything yet, I called Humana and the lady told me she couldn't give me that information. Does anybody know what I should ask or who I am suppose to specifically talk to to find out if I am approved or not? — blank first name B. (posted on November 28, 2001)

I know the general phone number for Humana is 800-558-4444. Check the back
of your ID card for the specific phone number. I would ask to speak to
someone in there pre-certification area. Tell them that information was
sent to them on 11/8 for a pre-approval on a surgery and you wanted to
check on the status and see if they received it.

Generally, Humana has the medical directors in their local market offices
review these kinds of cases. You can ask your surgeon where they sent the
pre-cert letter to find out if they sent it to the main service center or
to a more local office. Sometimes there can be more of a delay if it goes
roundabout. My surgery was approved right away and I have Humana HMO also.
