Question:
dose anyone know if medicare will cover the cost of wls?

I am currently recieving social security disability> I can no longer work because of my weight. I have developed hypertension,diabeties,arthritis and have been told I have suffered some heart damage after a bout with pnemonia. Medicare does cover this surgery, but they are very strict and will not pre-approve. You sound like you would meet their strict criteria, they want one of 3 co-morbidities, Diabetes, Hypertension or Severe Obstructive Sleep Apnea. Hope this helps.

They will more than likely approve you if your disability is received due to your weight. When i called and asked about it they said a dr. had to send a letter and you needed to be pre-approved for it.
