Question:
Can you help me get the last 30 to 40 lbs off?
I did want to ask a question since I noticed I probably have not lost anything in 1-2 months- and I am getting nervous as my window is closing rapidly. I am nine months out and have lost a total of 89 lbs. I started at 277 and am currently stuck at 188. I was wondering if any of you are similar in my weight/BMI/months out- and have noticed your weight loss slowing drastically (or you have been there and finally got past it)? - I KNOW haven't been eating the greatest of foods in the past two months and this more than likely is affecting me (I'm not elaborating- lets just say I can eat just about ANYTHING, and have, just small portions) The good thing is my exercise has increased 150%... so I was just looking for someone who may have similar concerns as mine, any tips on getting back on track with good food and when I may see that last 30-40 lbs go? — Karen R. Boy, I don't have any good advice, but am in the same position. I have 30
lbs left to goal, and am at 10 months. For the past two months my total
weight loss has been 6 lbs. (only 2 lbs. last month). I am just not
stressing about it. If I never lost another pound, I would still say the
surgery was a smashing success. And as a friend pointed out, if I lost 2
lbs. a month for the next year, I'd be pretty much at goal. I know what I
need to do (drink more water, eat less sugar), but mostly, I am determined
to enjoy my life at this lower weight (total loss of 90 - 92 lbs. for me).

I atarted out at 260, I am 8 months post-op and I have been stuck at 188
for 2 months. It is hard to deal with because I really do eat good. I
never go over 1200 calories per day and I exercise 3 times or more per
week. However, even when I am on a plateau., I know that I am losing
inches. Clothes fit me so well. I am in a 12/14. I really believe that
increasing your protein adn drinking A LOT of water helps. But, don't
knock your weight loss so far. You are doing great. The last 40 pounds
will come off in time.

This seems to be a commom time frame for plateau's. It seems to me that
you'll need to jump start the metabolism. The best way to do this is by
increasing exercize and protien. I know it sounds wierd to eat more to
loose weight but it works.......good luck

Yes, you are all right. I appreciate your input and I am happy to hear
that I am "normal". If I stay at 188 I will be happy and I do
think this surgery was a sucess for me. Still I MUST try and make goal,
just to see if it's true.... Thanks for the tips.

Karen, as an encouragement, let me tell you I was where you
are. At 10 months, my losing sloed way down. Hang in there!
As long as the scale is going down or holding steady, you are
doing great! I am now 15 months post op (approaching a closing
window I think) and I am 14 pounds from goal- which I too,
want to make! They key, besides the eating of protein and
getting in water is exercise for me. I only lose 1-3 pounds
a month, but I am still losing so I am happy. You sound
like you are doing great, you just may have to kick up the
exercise to lose more. Good Luck!
