Question:
Can you hinder your approval if you bug your insurance company?

Is it possible that if you or would hinder your approval with your insurance company. I don't know why they would persay but things have not been submitted by them in a timely manner and I just wonder would that have any impact on whether the insurance co would deny me based on them? Sorry if this question sounds confusing....    — [Anonymous] (posted on March 19, 2001)

HI.. I BUGGED MY INSURANCE CO BCBSPPO. AND IT SPED THINGS UP. BECAUSE WHEN YOU CALL YOU FIND REALLY NICE PEOPLE MOST OF THE TIME AND THEY TELL YOU WHAT YOU STATUS IS AND WHAT THEY NEED IF ANY. IN MY CASE THE PERSON I HOOKED UP WITH TOOK IT UPON HERSELF TO SPEED THINGS UP. I READ ALOT IN THIS SITE OF PEOPLE CALLING ALOT AND FINDING AN ANGEL WHO HELPED THEM AT THEIR INSURANCE. HOPE THIS HELPS.

Its like anything else, if you BUG anyone, they could put your file on the bottom of the pile. However, if you nicely call and ask for the status of your request, most people will respond in kind. Offer to get them whatever info they may be lacking. And, ask if it would be ok if you call back and check at the end of the week (for example). However, I'm always concerned when some people suggest that you call daily until you get approval and stay on their backs. I know that if I worked there, I wouldn't want to be extra helpful to you. Best wishes on your approval and surgery.

You need to be persistant at all times. This is your life and your decision. Insurance companies have been paid premiums by you for health coverage. This surgery will save your life and they must be shown this. Be pleasant and let them know you are confident in this choice you have made for surgery. I believe people genuinely don't understand this surgery and what it can do for a life. When you connect with someone who wants to learn about it, they will help you. But like everyone else is saying, don't get upset at the hand that will feed you, so to speak. Good luck.
