Question:
What kind of chemicals have you used post op?

Due to my whacked hormones, my hair before surgery got extremely curly in one year. I would buy "no lye relaxers" and use them to straighten/relax my hair a bit. I have not done this post op, yet. Seems that since I am losing so much of my hair, it is lighter/finer and now CURLIER! What I want to know is if anyone thinks this would affect my hair loss adversely or not?    — Karen R. I too have whacked out hormones, I was till (5'8 and 135) till I got preggers 8 years ago and then gained 90lbs and then could not lose a pound without gaining 2 more. My docs are convinced my obesity has to do with my hormones. My always thick dark brown curly hair went NUTS after each pregnancy. It got red and frizzy after the 1st one and I lost a patch straight down the middle to my scalp. 2nd time it turned jet black with much more grey and the frizz went to tight tight curls and I lost a patch a little off center. I dyed it as close to my natural dark brown right before WLS. Now I am 11 days post and am waiting to see what my whacky hormones do next. I have found a few things that are working well to relax the curls, add shine and moisture -- here's the run down -- Pantene shampoo and conditioner for dry hair -- While its wet I put in Frizz Eaze Hair Serum and comb it thru -- Then use my hands to start drying it and get the curls back -- (never a towel) -- Then I put in Citre Shine Shine Miracle and Anti-Frizz Polisher -- its almost like an oil and my hair loves it. Every few nights I use the old fashioned VO5 hairdressing (its thick like vaseline) all comb it thru my dry hair and sleep like that --in the morning I wash it out -- Since I have been doing this crazy routine everyone--even Mom-- says that they love how good my hair looks, Shiny healthy and calm!! - I asked several "hair people" about the no-lye relaxers in my siutation now and they all said no way that I am better off not messing with it until my system adjusts and calms down. Good Luck to you
