Question:
I found a egg sized lump under my scar????
I went to my primary doctor for something and a student doctor came in and did a quick exam...He was feeling my stomach and found under my scar right in the middle of it a lump I would say the size of a small egg. He dismissed it and said it is probaly part and a result of my surgery. I had never noticed it and you cant feel it unless you press down on that section. I am going to call my surgeon but I was wondering if anyone has had this or heard of this? I am worried. I am 3 weeks post op. Thanks — [Anonymous] (posted on September 29, 2000)

Don't worry. I had the same thing. It is part of the surgery swelling and
blood pooling. I had my surgeon look at it and he told me that. I am now
five weeks and it's totally gone. It reabsorbs and the swelling also goes
down.

I have the same thing. My surgeon told me it was a reaction to the internal
stitches. I have two lumps, and they seem to be getting smaller.

Hi! At about 3 weeks postop this small lump could be a couple of things.
As mentioned by other posters, it could be a nodule of fat or other swollen
tissue, and possibly a reaction to a stitch, all of which should resovle in
time. It could be a small hernia. It could be a small hematoma, a small
collection of blood or clot. It could be an area of infection, though it
would then usually be somewhat red and tender. Do contact your doctor and
have it looked at, especially if it is getting larger.

I too have one of these... scared that it was a hernia, I went to my doctor
and she said it was some sorta of fatty tumor... but to be on the safe side
have your egg checked out.
