Question:
Can anyone tell me if the WLS improved their Polycystic Ovary Syndrome?

I was diagnosed 2.5 years ago and my weight has risen. The Birth Control Tri-Cyclen Lo seem to help until I was take off due to rising blood pressure. Once I was take off this mediation my blood pressure returned to normal and my period stopped. I found that VANQUA elevated my excess hair growth but it is $75.00 at tube it is quite expensive and my insurance does not cover this cosmetic topical cream. However, a woman's got to do - what a woman's got to do. Thank goodness my company offers FSA. If you have PCOS please share you experience with me. Thanks.    — Mrsmanners862 (posted on October 4, 2005)

My POCS was under control with the drug actos. However I few weeks before surgery my doctor took me off it (Actos). I had a peroid about 4-5 after surgery and have had one monthy ever since. My excess hair grow is a little light but not much. Best of luck to you.

You should talk to your doctor about insulin resistance and some medications you could take. Diabetes medicine like actos or glucophage are some choices. If you do some research you might find that wls does help with pcos. BUT you might find that you would feel better with some meds. Good luck to you.
