Question:
I am having difficulty losing weight again. PLEASE HELP

It has been a few years since my surgery. I lost alot of weight for about a year, and then have started gaining weight back. I dont get full like I used to, and am really upset, because I am gaining weight back and dont want to eat like I am. Can anyone help?    — Heather S. (posted on August 26, 2005)

congratulations on taking the first step forward, and having the wls surgery. Are you able to get out and walk daily? How much have you lost and where are kyou in your BMI? With the excess weight lost, the excess skin, probably hinders you from doing as much as you want too ie walking exercising..., depending on your bmi, maybe you could consider a pannulectomy to help with mobility as walking will speed up your matabolizem. Rightnow you need to get back to basics, remember your pouch is only a tool and you have to make it work. Eat protien first, then veggies, get all of the bad carbs out of the house, only allow yourself 1 slice of bread a day, and drink lots of water, or sugar free koolaid, decaf tea. You can do it, the surgery will work it you help it by doing your part and eating right. If you get the munchies, take a drink and head out the door for a walk, or snack on high protien candy bar, but these have lots of calories, but its better than chips or cookies. Have you been keeping up with your labs, you could be defficient and causing you to want to eat more. There are so many reasons you have begun regaining. I weigh everyday to keep tabs on my weight, and I write it on a calander, to insure I dont gain or stop it before it gets too far out of hand. Good luck to you, YOU CAN DO IT!!! Enjoy the ride. 300>150-150@goal maintaining 2.5 years post op wls

Wow, I'm with you. I feel so sad sometimes because I gained back 12 lbs which is 2 sizes. I wish I knew the answer, but I wasn't one to do an hour workout a day before WLS and I still love food. It is truly a curse that we can't change the "inner fat girl". All I can say is you are not alone. I know everyone tell us to "diet and exercise" but they said that before and it didn't work, so all I want you to know is do your best and try not to quit. -Melissa
