Question:
Two small bowel blockages..surgery?

I had a Upper Gi with small bowel follow through last friday. This was to see why I am in so much pain ih the evening hours, horrible gas pains, stomach sticking out like a basketball,throwing . The doctor gave the report yesturday with a refferal to general surgey. For two partial, beaked small bowel obstructions. He said they need to be removed. My question is : Will they come back and how long is the recovery? This is really scary. I am four years post op from an open RNY (distal). Diana, I suggest you also ask over on the yahoo OSSG-grad list. All the posters on that list are more than a year post-op and you would have the benefit of the post-ops that are further out and may have experienced the same thing. I had a twisted/kinked bowel but it was as an early post-op and was corrected surgically and has not happened again (2 years post-op).
