Two small bowel blockages..surgery?

I had a Upper Gi with small bowel follow through last friday. This was to see why I am in so much pain ih the evening hours, horrible gas pains, stomach sticking out like a basketball,throwing . The doctor gave the report yesturday with a refferal to general surgey. For two partial, beaked small bowel obstructions. He said they need to be removed. My question is : Will they come back and how long is the recovery? This is really scary. I am four years post op from an open RNY (distal). Any help or information would be great...:)
