Question:
slow weight loss possibly from a beta blocker
I read that some people on atenolol (tenormin) blood pressure medicine, may have slower weight loss, because of a beta blocker. We are in the process of changing my medicine. I am 6 months out and have lost approx. 59 since surgery. Thanks for your help Linda Lang — Linda L. (posted on December 4, 2003)

I was on Zebeta and Hyzaar both are beta blockers, I did not find them to
cause me to have slow weight loss. I have lost 71# and I am 7+ months PO. I
stopped taking (woohoo) my blood pressure meds back in mid October and have
continued to have a steady loss. I would look into the amount of carbs you
are eating, your amount of exercise you are doing and your water and
protein consumption. I find that my weight loss slows down when I eat too
many carbs. I have continued to make sure that I exercise and do my
protein, but I have a tendancy to gravitate towards carbs. Good Luck.

Hi. Are you a lightweight? You may be losing slower because of that. 6
mos average is between 55-100 pounds so you're still okay. You have
another 12 months to lose the rest of your weight.
