Question:

I am 5 months pos op and down 90 lbs. I am doing great most of the time have never dumped on anything or gotten sick, the only thing I have a problem with and it sounds so minor but it gets on my nerves and that is food sticking or caking on my tongue. Yes I brush my teeth and tongue about 3 times a day.It does not matter what I eat it still does even beef jerky. anyone else had this problem and what is causing it I never had this problem before surgery.. — dave B. Sounds like to me that you might need to see your dentist. There are
several infections and diseases of the tongue that can come about. It's
better than trying to keep scraping your tongue.

If you don't have a dentist, you could at least visit your PCP - this may
be some form of a yeast infection on the tongue and easily treated with
antibiotics. Good luck!

I had a bout with this for the first few weeks after surgery. I recognized
mine as yeast overgrowth because my husband has had the problem several
times. I started eating plain yogurt (with active cultures) a couple of
times per day for about a week and mine cleared right up. It might be the
same thing but if you've never had the problem before, you might want to
check with your PCP. I know it's a pretty gross thing to deal with. Good
luck on finding the answer.

Hi, you need to go see your regular PCP and get antibiotics for
candidiasis, also known as thrush. It makes food appear to stick to your
tongue. It easily treatable. Good luck!
