Question:
What could be causing this?
I had my gallbladder removed 2 days ago and although I also had a gastric bypass 5 months ago, I don't remember having the pains I am having with this surgery. Maybe because its only been a few days since the GB surgery but I am having sharp pains in the shoulders and the left side. Could this be trapped gas? I am not running a fever so I doubt its an infection. Anyone have anything similar? Thanks, — cherby56 (posted on September 18, 2003)

Hi, whenever you have pain in that area of the body it is wise to have it
checked out by a physician. Especially after anytype of surgery. I do not
want to frighten you, but it is best to be safe because with any surgery
comes the risk of pulmonary embolism. Please have it checked ASAP. take
care.

That happened to my sister and they told her it was trapped gas. She
walked and walked and took gas x and it got better.

I had that same problem when I had surgery! When I had my WLS, the surgeon
removed my gallbladder too. For about 6 days after my surgery, my shoulders
killed me. My surgeon said that it was trapped gas and that it would
eventually go away. Boy did it hurt! Try laying on a heating pad. It seamed
to help dull the pain.
