Question:
I have just been told that I tested positive for H-Pylori. They are treating me now.
My problem is, is that my surgery is a week from tomorrow. I called my surgeon and they told me that I will still have surgery as planned. As I am looking through the Q&A database, it tells me different. Anyone else been diagnosed with this and still gone through surgery? — Sixftmommy (posted on July 29, 2003)

Hi, I also found out I had H-pylori the week before my surgery...I took two
different types of pills, I believe 7 days worth and was ready for my
surgery as planned.I was so worried to, but everything was fine. Hope this
helps.

I also was told I tested positive for H-Pylori and I have to take meds for
it. The doctors office the medicine in and I called the drug store to see
how much the meds would cost. The drug store told me it cost $190.00. I
liked to have had heart failure. So I called the doctors office to see if
the doctor could give me something a bit cheaper and they told me to get my
PCP to give me samples, but my PCP does not give samples for Prilosec or
Prevacid or Zantac out of the office. So I have to come up with the money
or try some of the products over the counter equvilant to Previcid or
Prilosec or Zantac. I am not scheduled for WLS as of yet, but I need to get
this medicine to start taking it before I have surgery. I need to know if
the over the counter drugs work as good as the prescribed? I just can't
afford the $190.00 prescription.
