Question:
I wondered who else had had inscision infection
I have a very nasty infection. It is about 2 inches long and totally filled with green stuff. My surgeon told me to clean it with peroxide. Yesterday I called and said it was not any better so he prescribed be an antibiotic. Today I have an appointment. I am scared that he will want to clean it out. Will it be painful? He won't want to put back in the hospital for this will he? I am just nervous and wondered if anyone else had an bad inscision infection before and what they did for it. — Stacie B. My daughter had emergency abdiminal surgery years ago and had an infection
in a 6"long incision line. We had to clean it 2x a day with peroxide.
The doctor had to clean it out twice in one week, in his office. Even
though it was green it turned out to be non-bacterial. He cleaned her out
with an alcohol solution he made in the office. It stung for a few seconds,
but after a few short days the infection was gone. Unless it is a deep
infection, we were told that it could be treated in the office. Best
wishes!

Hi, Stacie. I had an infection right around my bellybutton at five weeks.
I'm not going to lie, yes it did hurt a little when he cleaned it out, but
it was bearable. I just concentrated on the light on the ceiling while he
dug around and tried not to think about it. I was able to stop at the
drugstore for my prescription, go out to dinner with my husband, and visit
my parents right afterwards, so it wasn't that bad. It took about two
weeks for it to stop draining and when I went back for my two week visit,
he dug around a little again. The good news was, the infection was gone!!
To be honest, swallowing the mega antibiotics was worse. Good luck to you!
