Question:
What is the difference between VBG and adjustable band?
Ok, first I have to admit I have not done alot of research. But just the little I have done I cant answer this question. What is the difference between the Vertical Banded Gastroplasty and the Adjustable Lap Band (BESIDES being that the ALB is 'adjustable') other than THAT whats the difference???? — star . Besides being adjustable it does NOT create any permanent changes in your
digestive track and under normal circumstances completely removable if
needed. The VBG uses staples and such which can fail. Adjustable helps to
overcome the problems that many VBGers get coming here looking for
revisions.

The adjustable gastric band doesn't surgically change the stomach. The
entire stomach is left intact, with the band placed around the outside of
the upper portion of the stomach. If you have any other lap band
questions, feel free to email me.<BR>
